Red Hair Orang Utan

This video clip is taken in Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre. Young Orang Utans (less than 3 years old) are placed in this rehabilitation centre. The young Orang Utans are being taken care of carefully by the workers there. For example, the workers help the Orang Utans of about 3 months old to take bath, or feed them with milk similar with those adult female Orang Utans.

As well as sharing 96.4% of human genes, these gentle creatures can also catch most of the diseases that effect humans including tuberculosis, pneumonia and polio. In this case, the centre provides medical care for orphaned and confiscated orang utans. Just ten years ago the estimated population was around 27,000, today it could be as low as 15,000.
